At Rancho Valencia, tennis is more than just a pastime, it's a passion. The tennis facilities and programs are among the best of the best. The Resort was ranked the #1 Tennis Resort in the Country by Tennis Magazine. The San Diego area offers an ideal climate for comfortable outdoor tennis play throughout the year. The resort offers 18 beautiful 18 plexi-pave championship tennis courts in a magnificent garden setting. Court time is complimentary.

We have an energetic and dynamic tennis staff led by our Tennis Director, John Delille. Our Tennis Professionals consist of players that have been successful in their own play and have held titles from Grand Slam Tennis Events, participated in Davis Cup Play, and hold trophies in local tournaments. These U.S.P.T.A and U.S.P.T.R. certified pros are eager to share their knowledge and help you reach your tennis potential.

Dedicated to enhancing the game of its visitors, Rancho Valencia's renowned instructional clinics are offered daily from 9 a.m. to noon. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced player, there is a clinic specifically formatted to any level. The clinic focuses on several aspects of tennis including net play (volleys and overheads), groundstroke’s and serves.

Dress Code

Attire specifically designed for tennis is required. No running shoes or tee-shirts, please.

Renowned Instructional Clinics

This program we have continued since opening when we were a John Gardiner Tennis Resort. We have many guests returning year after year to tune up their game. Ability levels are grouped with a maximum of a 4:1 student to pro ratio. The pro’s take you through drills on a variety of shots and shot combinations while you are given personal advise on improvements. The last session is playing and tips on singles or doubles strategies are discussed. What a great way to spend your morning. For groups of 2 or more players, the clinic is 3 hours; 1 player in a group goes for 1.5 hours. The clinic begins at 9am each morning. Clinic reservations must be received in advance. Please contact the Pro Shop to reserve 24 hours in advance.

Private Lessons

Private and Semi-private lessons are available. We take pride in scheduling the best pro to fit your individual needs. Please let us know your level and focus for your individual session as we schedule your lesson. Lessons costs range from $50 for ½ hour to $100 for an hour semi-private.

Family Tennis

The family that plays together stays together. We are ready to reserve this 2-hour period of time for your family. The pro will rotate all players in from the children, parents, grandparents etc. We pride ourselves on the “3 Generation” tennis time. We customize the sessions and can add music, games, drills or just stroke production. Please let the staff know when booking you are booking the Family Tennis Experience. Cost is $185 for this two-hour activity.

Match Arranging

Looking for some competition? We enjoy finding the perfect match for you. Doubles, Singles, Hitting...we have a wide variety of guests, owners, members, and staff that would love to beat you! This service is complementary. Please contact the Pro Shop to reserve 24 hours in advance.

Tenniscize

Enjoy this fast paced drill session to music lead by one of our staff. Please see schedule for time. Complimentary

Ball Machine

Looking to perfect a stroke, get some exercise, or really just want to hit something! We have a reliable machine that will not stop giving you an opportunity to do what you must. Please reserve through the pro shop. Complimentary
